Aljazeera Academy...... ADVICE PLEASE

I am planning to admit my kids to Aljazeera Academy in reception and grade 2.
At present they are in Doha Academy. Academically Doha Academy is quite good as they have written tests every week and end of term exams. But the school does not have sports facilities.

I need the advice of the parents whose kids are studying in AJA. What is the standard of school. Do they have strict administration in terms of discipline and quality of education??

Please advice as I need to make decision soon. The school is asking for MONEY on ASAP basis.

aja has a new primary programme and administration this year. both my children are there and i have no concerns, the staff are attentive and caring. one of my children was put up a year within a short period. you have to remember that a lot of the children are 2nd language speakers which means an altered level of learning. the school is pushing the new pyp programme to elevate the level of learning to all.

if you want to be purely among expats and 1st language English speakers don't go but if you want your children to experience life truly in Qatar, it is fine. my kids are learning a lot.

In Doha Academy, they do conduct weekly tests every Sunday. Exams at every term end. At least the kids knows what an exam is.

Thanks for your advice Iman, I will do some more research and might refrain from AJA.

My son was in the primary school of AJA last year. My daughter is in the secondary school still. There was a different primary principal last year, so perhaps the one this year is better- I don't know. In my opinion the administration in terms of discipline and quality of education is mediocre at best. The primary school had a problem with behavior management in the class and bullying outside the class. The IPC curriculum was poorly implemented. My son really learned very little last year. The previous year in the States he had been a good math student-by the end of last year at AJA he was failng math and so on and so on...

if your only complaint about DC is the sports facilities then don't move. Trust me, findng a school in Doha that has strong academics is a treasure you don't want to lose.

One last note: the fact that the primary school has open enrollment spots is a clue about parent satisfaction. I'm not surprised they want your money ASAP.

Maybe ask the ladies at www.expatwoman.com on the Qatar chatboard. I haven't seen any of them talking about their kids going there but someone might know some more info. Good luck.

Yes I did some research and nothing was good. But I need to confirm wit some one whose kids are studying there.

What raise my eyebrow was the comments form the teacher taking admission test as she will be one of the brightest students of her class. She is just a mediocre student at her school.
