AKON in Doha

By qtrezchick23

If you haven't heard, AKON will be in Doha on May 22nd.

What you also may not know is that AKON along with Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, P Diddy, and T-Pain made a remix called "Arab Money", in which they mock Arabs and the Quran.

Qatar has been in an uproar since knowing about this, but we need to be a bit more careful about who we let in to this country. I understand that we enjoy some of the music, but are we going to let the culture of this country and the religion be mocked in front of the people of this country?

Here's the song for you to hear:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2zTDSVu2GM

I find that to be blatantly wrong.

Who out there feels the same and is willing to spread the word?

Support the cause. Don't support the AKON event.

Just to respond to Keidoupe >>

You think those rappers are Muslim with Muslim roots?! Name one of them. There's Diddy, Akon, Busta Rhymes, T-Pain, Lil Wayne... Which one of these idiots is Muslim with Muslim roots?! None of them will ever appreciate the religion or respect it. They all walk around with tattoos, drinking, and clubbing.

What a wonderful representation of Islam. Nice goin', y'all.

To All Who Posted:

They're singing verses from the Quran. Hence the mocking. Just in case you all don't know, everything that's happening are all signs of youm al-qiyama (day of judgment) and we should all start being a little more aware and careful of how we behave. We should also respect ourselves as Muslims and Arabs enough to speak out against those who mock us, whether it's about our culture, our religion, or our way of life.

What happened to our pride?!

i am not a fan of any of these rappers, but i dont see any thing wrong with the song. only because they mention arabs in the song? i think its more of a good intend of than a mock.

or may be iam blind to see what you see??

here is a link from liveleak.com here you can read the lyrics of the song.

The ticket for the concert is for 350 Qr regular but akon is probably gona play for only an hour and a half

Afta 11 there is an after party by sum crap DJ who is supposedly the official Dj for Akons concert and to go to the after party u need to stump up an additional 600 QR on top of the 350 u pay for akons concert!

now isnt tht ridiculous !

I m not that keen on AKon was interested in attending coz of the idea of the pre party and post party and have a fun night at the intercon beach

but the crap they have come out with with respect to paying twice on a single night for 4-5 hours of partying and listening to sum ghetto music!!!

bullshit!!!!!

Life is too short to think about the uneditable past and plan about the unpredictable future!!!!!

So take a chill pill

Relax, enjoy and savour the moment till u can and it lasts.

Its a free country,,,,,,you want to see Akon, then come to his concert....you do not want to see him, then stay at home as no one will force you to go.

In Qatar we have a mosque and a bar.....If you wish to go to the mosque you are welcome and if you wish to go to the bar, you are also welcome. This is the vision of the country, so keep your comments to yourself.

view of life!!!

please get a grip!

this is a country with culture and pride, and the people who bring this SINGER or whatever aren';t aware of the conflict that will lay upon the citizens of Qatar!!

Why would they bring a singer who mocked the Qur'an???

ha WHY??

Give me one good reason..and qatar won't be left out or excluded, qatar achieved alot, but this is beyond alot..

first they get the Denmark guy editor, don't know if u heard of him, yes he mocked the prophet in his paper I think, and now the singer who mocked the Qur'an!!

Hold ur horses qatar!

is this the progress and development we were seeking for?

to become the eye of the world? the center of attention?

Think not..

no one would sacrifice his religion and culture and entire morality for some singer and simply to entertain the people?

I mean what people r we talking abt, Qatari citizens don't all join such concerts in all, but non-Qataris!!

It was never for the qataris but the entertainment of non-Qataris, which from the way I see it is doing a pretty good job..

u know ..

not making DOHA ANY DULL ANY MORE!!

WOOHOO

did you see busta's arab money video? it's funny..at the end the of the vid, the crowd gets crazy when the chorus breaks in.

by the way, the song is saying "were getting arab money!". I DONT FIND ANYTHING OFFENSIVE WITH THAT. i dont know, but thats just me..

busta rhymes is a muslim..he was not bashing the arabs and their lotsa money.

about akon, he sang the song bellydancer! hot hot hot!

I respect your viewes, but I would also like to mention that AKON has been contacted by the Office of HH to meet with him and discuss supporting some of the good cause projects that HH look after in Qatar Foundation. I think this is the right vision of our leaders, so stop making stories about the superstars. Another thing is that so far AKON's concert is almost sold out, which means that these kind of comments are not really reaching any one. Thirts thing is that AKON is a muslim him self, and I dont think a muslim will do what you are saying to Ismal.

my confirmation of nikki belluci event

this proves my point that that how people in qatar only "selectively religious" since you hadnt even heard about this event.

and as far comparing saudi with qatar, have you seen the size of the countries you comparing??..just because both of them try to run off the road doesnt make them same, saudi having strict law if back up by it having the most sacred place for muslims. and if you wanna compare qatar dubai, qatar is not even in the same league!!!

As per your comment Qatar economy will collapse if they ban a singer to come here. Qatari will ride camel !!! If it's so then all Saudi should keep riding camel all day long. Even Qatar if implement law as same as like KSA, nothing will change. You could say if Oil & Gas finish then they may go for riding.......All expat in here in the middle east for money. Cause this region is Oil rich.

In UK in the late 70's / Early 80's they did the same. It was called punk and people just learned to live with it.

I couldn't have cared less for the Acorn guy, but since you posted this I want to go along to hear the song in question.

Nothing is more relaxing than flying like an Eagle in Heaven !!

like Akon cares about u or about people like u who will support ur "WORD" ... get urself a life. I was shocked as well that some guys of the Qatar University were trying to cancel the concert of Enrique Iglesias! why that? because they say his video clips are so sexual and this is against Islam. Give me a break!! u do 10000000000000000000 things against islam everyday urself. now u want to ban singers to come over here?? yeah sure!! then ur economy will collapse and u ll be back on camels riding 5 hours to get some water and ur new high rises will be empty ...

Yeah, you're right. Doha does get boring. But why stoop so low as to support this specific artist or even the other 3 that participated in the remix of that song? Plenty of artists come through here and plenty more will.

A lot of more exciting people will come in and entertain the country with their music. Nobody will let Doha stay dull for too long.

By qtrezchick23• 11 May 2009 10:57
qtrezchick23

Here's the thing:

I'm not advertising the song, I'm trying to make everyone understand that paying money for an artist who mocks culture and religion and does it with pride is retarded. You like his music, cool. I like his music too, but I'm not gonna pay money to see him live.

About the Enrique thing, my job gave me 2 free tickets and it wasn't even worth it then. That was just ridiculous.

Qatar has huge artists coming that appreciate culture, not insult it. I'm looking forward to those artists. I'm not down with culture bashing, but I'm down with having fun. People need to differentiate.

AND HEY! WHEN DID NIKKI BELUCCI COME TO DOHA?!

i didnt see any post stopping nikki belucci from performing in qatar, WHO IS AN EX PORNSTAR AND HER TRADEMARK IS THAT SHE TAKES HER TOP OF IN CONCERTS!!!!...its very interesting to see how people take religious and be bious to only the things they dont like...especially if its a guy and the hormones are raging!!

and i knew about the sond long time ago but it wasnt until i checked the lyrics i found out he was disrespecting islam, i knew he was making fun or arabs (but didnt give a shit!!)

Your right.. to be honest with u i started the song but didnt finish it, so i didnt hear what they were saying... but was is actually Akon that disrespected Islam or one of the other 3 rappers.. anyways thats besides the point... The thing is Do7a is a bit boring at time so when somthing like this happens its like everyone gets excited... if i was back home in the UK i probably wouldnt go...

a difference between mocking a culture and state your point of view ... I heard that song before and it belong to the first category [mocking] ...

I like Akon's songs, but I'm not in favor of attending this concert ... That would be just another expensive concert just like Enrique ... 350 and 500 ... I was just wondering how much does those tickets cost for this one?

I can pay that amount for a legendary band coming here to perform, but not for an individual singer ... I can buy all the original records of that singer with that amount and keep listening to his/her songs all day long ...

That link does not work anymore, don't think that you checked that out before posting the link ... It was removed by youtube community and categorize it as offensive contents ...

Why do people make the most simple of things like a concert so friggin annoying... he is just a singer... Qatar will be cut off from the rest of the world if we keep banning people because we dont like their veiws on life...

Get over it man!
