An afternoon in Doha
I was sitting in the lounge at Dana Club when I looked out the window an saw this huge glorious palm tree looking back at me (yes, it had eyes!).
I don't know, it just struck me: I am a Canadian, from Northern Ontario, and I LIVE in a country with PALM TREES! It's amazing and I feel quite lucky.
To put things into perspective, Canadians need to spend oodles of money to vacation to someplace with palm trees. Anywhere that has a palm tree is marketed as the place to be. So yeah, it's kinda cool I get to live amongst palm trees.
Anywho, I looked around and saw a young boy walking around with a sword. No joke! He was a 12 year old-ish Qatari boy. He was walking about with another youngster and yeah, they had a sword. Even better? No one cared.
I like that about Qatar, you are kind of free to do whatever pleases you, so long as you're not breaking any laws.
Then a group of kids joined me in the lounge. They seemed like they were all siblings. All really LOUD. They started playing music on their phone and chit chatting and although I was unable to concentrate...
It was nice to see kids being kids and having fun. Finally, a place where kids were not being reprimanded for being children.
Just sitting back and looking directly at Qatar, it sometimes almost feels like you're living a vacation. There is a relaxed vibe here, great weather (after an insanely hot summer), and lovely palm and frangipani trees.
Where is your fav place to spend your afternoon?
I hope Qatar will concentrate much on the green.
If they can spend money on making green on the both sides of the road.
Also implement a system to paint the buildings / Housings in a periodical manner.
I hope some knowledgeable people can add more options to make Doha green.
Your underlying sentiment of your post suggests that your are:
Poetic,
Romantic
And
Naturalist
Good, these qualities are more than sufficient to find solace anywhere in the world.

"Just sitting back and looking directly at Qatar, it sometimes almost feels like you're living a vacation. "...
The issue is that we all enjoy living in Qatar. It offers us many advantages. However, like anywhere else in the world, it is not perfect as you continually seem to have us believe.
Having been to Canada, I found the greenery and lanscape to be beautiful and awe inspiring..
Anyway, in answer to your question - I would spend the afternoon reading a book in the shadee by the little pool in my villa.
You don't have to mention in your every post that you are a Canadian and bla bla blah.... I guess no one is interested to know where you are from ?
Sorry for being rude, but its kinda boring reading in your every post the same thing tat you are Canadian and from Canada and so on....
Hope you understood what I mean to say ?
Cheers and have a great Weekend !
