ADVICE SALARY AND COST OF LIVING

Hello all, Need some urgent advice!!

I've got offered job in Doha, was wondering if any could advise on living expenses for family of 3 and if the offer is acceptable. Would I be able to save and if so how much? Based on living costs in Doha. Details of job listed below:

Salary per month: 8500QR (Inc transport)

Accomodation 2bed appart provided, Part furnished (excluding bills), annual flights only for me Not including wife or daughter. Medical for all the family.

Also I was wondering if any one could enlighten me regarding the options of car lease Vs. purchase. How much would a good, reliable used car (Nissan, Toyota) cost to buy is 25-30K QR realistic?

Any realistic figures would be great. Many Thanks

You come to Doha to save ... but to be honest with that salary you will find it struggling with the bills.

Have u negotiate about medical and dentistry for the families? it would be costly too if not cover by your employer. Especially having kid in such a young age.

I forgot or no memories, the last time my employer fed me with a golden spoon or treated me like a King in a foreign country when it comes to a job, salary and benefits.

Negotiation skills are important before stepping yourself in this magnificent green fields of sand and rocks named Qatar.

Once again thanks novita for your reply. The only reason why I was actually considering this package was that another school in Doha also wouldnt pay for my wifes and daughters flights, accomodation and even health cover and they expected me to pay for it.

I'm unsure about the size of the accomodation they shall be providing but your info helps. I just don't want to come out to Doha and find that its not financialy viable.

I did forget to mention end year grats @ 3 weeks pay each yr.

I am really keen to come out but im having doubts. As i have read in the recent post many expats are returing home due to costs.

Could you please advise me on cost of used cars would 20-25k QR cover it?

sorry about the questions but could we save anything from this salary?

As I have property in UK, to send to cover expenses.

Thank you all for your comments. Thanks Novita77 I shall ask about schooling. I didnt think about it as my daughter is only 9 months old and the contract is for 2 yrs.

What would be general cost of living in Doha?

Would cover 2500QR elec,water,food,car insurance,phone, internet?

What is an acceptable salary per month for primary teacher with 3 yrs experience from UK?

I have been told that salary is low due to the rising cost of accom??

Could We save any from 8500QR?

Any advice as to buying a car?? As I was thinking of purchasing car instead of lease.

I think the offer is derisory.

With an offer like that I think I would just forget about the company.

Salary is low. Family should be included in flights. And Novita is right, schooling should be covered too.

It sounds a bit low for me. You did not mention about schooling? And normally if you come here in married status, the flight would be including the wife and the kid/s.
