Hello BM owners in QL,

I have 2008 BM 118i 50000Km, my warranty going to complete by end of this month,
to renew the warranty the dealer charge 4500 Riyal, which covers all major items like
Oil change
Break Pad and Disk
Costly bulbs
Free checkup and Service
Engine,Filter AC etc..

My question?? is it worth this service package? or what of i do a time to time service at dealer..

please note i have made a checkup yesterday and did a service, changed oil, all filters and 3 spark plugs(free of cost)

Please advice.

May be German cars are not as tough as Japanese ones...

In Japanese ones you need service every 20,000 Kms...you can easily ignore the ones in between.

Dont believe me? Try it out!

I was in the same position as you couple of months back and I finally decided to get the package and thank God for that. Just one month later I got engine trouble which would have otherwise costed 7000 if I had to pay for it. Remember that the 4500 doesn't just cover the service, it covers the warranty too so I don't go with Jackmohan's TCO assessment :-). These cars have a lot of fancy electronics, with the 50+C outside, who's to say things will work as they are supposed to. Besides, I also heard that the BMWs do not agree to the petrol quality in Doha, the remedy to this would be for the dealer to give you more frequent oil changes otherwise it could affect other parts of the car specifically the oil assembly which can cost a bomb. If you have a package, then you needn't worry about any of these...

You need to service your car only once every year...or max twice every year at 5K!!!

And man dont fall for that warranty package.

falling for that would also depend upon BMW service charge...

The package is only worth if the charges are QR2,500 per service. I dont think it would be that much.

yeah...thats why am thinking whether to go or no..

by the way which BM you have?

am staying in and working near by the airport..office home--home office and weekend some shopping..hardly 10,000 in a year..

how much they charge oil change and filter?

Only 10,000 a year???... Then its not worth it. 10,000 kms means only oil change + filter....isn't it?
