Ah yes there is so much good music, and basically we are mainly talking about rock here, though I must say I do not know any of the names that back2doha mentioned except from Alanis. What kind of music is this? Then there is Jazz which I love too and blues, and country, blue grass and clasical and and and.
However talking about good music. I have a whole bunch of L.P.'s lying in a cupboard and I have not heard them for years. Do any of you know where/how I can get a turn table. Would love to put some of them on cd. Please.....
So what about The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, , Procol Harum, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Slade, Roxy Music, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, R.E.M they all seems to be forgotten by most of you - why is that ?
Music, Ah my favorite. How ever thru the years I forget their names. The 60's were great as it was a total revolution in music. After the big band sounds that were popular in the 50's, we were avid watchers of top of the pops and our parents used to say, what is this? Do you call this music? Ah yes. There were the Shadows, Mersey Beat, Who, Alan Price, The KING Elvis (nobody mentioned him) Sandy Shaw, Marianne Faithfull, Petula Clark, The Animals, Dusty Springfield, Chubby Checker, Beatles, Stones and many many others. All these bands are more like early 60's. Then there was Woodstock! Wow, after things really changed and a whole lot of other musicians became knowns to us.
Oh when I am writing this I realize that I am getting old. As well I am having trouble remembering names of the bands I so used to love.Suppose will need some time to make up a list.
Anyway I have always loved music and still do including Amy Whitehouse and Daffy right now. As long as it was good music I would like it.
Any Aussies out there? I used to know a Aussie group called Flash in the Pan. Does anyone know them? I loved their music, but this was in the 80's.
I am not sure if a lot of people have heard an Australian band called" little river band" Exellent lyrics to their songs. And suprise surprise no one has mentioned the Master of the lead guitar "Mark Knofler" from Dire Straits.
In fact I feel Dire straits first album under the same name was one of the best albums for me.
Zyga, Amy winehouse had an album aleady in the 90's? i thought she just started recently, but damn she's a very good artist with the voice combination of Tina turner anf Tony Braxton....Shame with the drugs things though hope she'll sort her life out...
