True but the Sheikha herself proposed that a healthier way of living and recommended that biking would be good for people with weight problems. I think it would be great just to have a short spin with the bike every day would be great.
Gents..this is just an idea being floated to control the traffic that is expected on the Corniche as well as the New Energy City..its estimated that 12 lanes are required to meet the traffic demand by 2010 on the Corniche-Al Khor highway..So expect a lot more trial ballons..
Before the proposal goes into construction mode.I am sure an origination and destination survey will be conducted..Then I guess the idea will be nipped in the bud..
Local dress codes does not allow for an easy ride on a bicycle..
Don't think its meant to be tunnel, open sides with a water cooled roof. The costs should be no more than 25% of constructing a road - which by the way is plenty of $$$'s
well yes it sounds strange but it sounds realistic ... the guy exists (abdul Rahman) and Rand - EuROPE sounds like the correct company i'd go to as there is a Rand-Qatar here...
Anyway, we will see but it will certainly but a prototype and something to distinguish Qatar...
My question is where will they fit this? Will they put it into the sea as it is now cos or what?
A few years ago, when I lived in The Netherlands, there was a newspaper report of a plan to build tunnels over the cycle paths between The Hague and Leiden. These tunnels would have fans to create an artificial wind which would blow the cyclists along and speed their journey. Well, it turned out to be an urban myth (or broodje aap if you're Dutch). I was expecting this to be more of the same, but this guy sounds really serious. I'm all for it, I miss cycling.
I have not heard about it but I would in any case be sure to use it should this be introduced I love to bike and at present on the streets in Doha it is like taking your life in you hands - driving is bad enough.

This sounds like an April 1st thing.

Sounds like a crazy project, but what do you do with all that money - i suppose you have to spend it somewhere - eek!
