Top projects to expect in 2022

The highly anticipated year is finally here! Qatar has focused on developing several projects to prepare for The 2022 Fifa World Cup and achieve Qatar National Vision 2030. We’re listing the major projects of the year so the community in Qatar can explore and experience them.
Place Vendome
The project’s architectural design intended to radiate luxury, extravagance, and display cultural and artistic scenes was inspired by Europe's most romantic city, Place Vendôme, Paris.
Place Vendome is located on the seafront of Lusail and provides a gorgeous open plaza experience. It includes cafes and restaurants, luxury and fashion, convenience stores, luxury accommodation, and additional services.
Lusail Tram
The tram service is intended to provide convenient travel via the network of four lines and 25 stations. It also has connections to the Doha Metro at Lusail and Legtaifiya.
In terms of sustainability, trams are better for the environment, copes better with traffic than buses, and is more efficient as one train can replace 40 cars. The tram is to become the main hub of transport in Lusail City.
Corniche Beautification Project
Corniche, the center of Doha is soon to be transformed into a unique and enjoyable locale for families and visitors. It includes developing a sustainable environment, cycling & jogging tracks, construction of 3 pedestrian tunnels and plazas, and open exhibition spaces with several artworks contributing to the social environment.
Doha Winter Wonderland
The Doha winter wonderland project extends over an area of 200,000-square-meter and includes six areas for amusement games and marine sports, a marine club, family chalets, and an area for celebrations and various events.
This project is a new entertainment destination part of Qatar's numerous global tourist spots. It serves both residents and visitors, particularly during the World Cup, as it will be ready before the tournament.
Qetaifan Island North
Qetaifan Island North is located close to the Lusail stadium attracting family and tourists. It includes a waterpark, luxurious hotel, beach club, linear park, retail outlets, spas, and additional services.
This project is fully owned by Katara Hospitality and with Vision 2030 and World Cup into consideration, it offers exquisite entertainment and is a lovely tourist destination in Qatar.
Water Taxis
Water taxis are aimed at providing an alternative means of transportation apart from Doha Metro and buses. The efficiency of the taxi in coastal areas like Dafna, Al Matar, and Lusail, will be tested by the ministry this year as a part of Vision 2030 goals.
Water taxis can be used as an efficient mode of transport from Qetaifan Island North to Lusail Stadium as they can help avoid the large crowds and traffic.
Gewan Island
Gewan Island, located in The Pearl-Qatar, is a unique project that displays stunning architecture and unmatched luxury. Arising from the tranquil blue waters of the Arabian Gulf, it includes a variety of recreational, commercial and residential facilities, exotic features, utopian beachfront living experience, exclusive private island mansions, and much more.
Katara Towers
The Lusail Plaza Towers is said to be the most iconic commercial high rise towers in Qatar forming the gateway to the city of Lusail. It is the first-ever hospitality project in Qatar to receive a certificate for Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) design and build 5 stars rating at the design stage.
The Crescent Tower is a hotel project which displays an iconic design evolved from Qatar’s symbol, the crossed swords. The project located in Lusail Marina District is to become the primary hotel destination in the country.
This project was built with sustainability taken into consideration. The waste management and facility management operations are sufficient, ensuring sustainability in the long run.
Qatar Public Transport Program (QPTP)
The Ministry of Transport and Communications has taken the initiative to transform the current state of transport in Qatar. The increasing demand for transport, lack of usage of public transport, and high usage of private transport are what led to the development and implementation of QPTP.
QPTP offers bus services with plans to fully integrate with other multimodal transport systems in the country, allowing the achievement of Vision 2030, national economic and social development, by providing tourists and residents with a seamless travel experience. The ultimate goal is to revolutionise the view of public transport in Qatar.
