not true, the capacity of Khalifa Stadium is already 45, 000 i heard they are adding something on top, an assemby of some sort. that does not need any demolition,
I think they'll gonna destroy villagio but if they did then m 100% sure that they will gonna make another villagio in qatar :) no worries :)... its the most place which people visit so they will gonna make another one :) maybe we will have better villagio than this one :) God knows :)...i hope so..
These People Having a Lots of Free Land in this Country, If they Wish They Can built 100's of New Stadium like Khalifa or Bigger than this too... So No Need to Worry no plan to demolish Villagio. Be Cool.....:)
Arien, they may make the stadium 65,000 seat, but the vast majority will be WC visitors without cars, and when the WC is over there will never be 65,000 people in that stadium
Yeah Arien, but if you look at the marketing for Qatar as a place to visit, they focus on Villagio, Corniche, Al Khor and a couple of other places. How can they take that away, when they have put so much emphasis on it...unless they move Villagio...but I can't believe they will get rid of it altogether.
snessy I think the news is true, they have to increase the capacity of the stadium to 65000 as per the plan and promise , and almost double the parking area.
@ propertyinqatar...there's no way villagio and hyatt can be saved man... there's a requirement for 2022 so we've got to accept the fact that someday we're gonna miss these two shopping malls...
Qatar's winter months are brimming with unmissable experiences, from the AFC Asian Cup 2023 to the World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024 and a variety of outdoor adventures and cultural delights.

Why not just build an underground stadium beneath Villaggio and Hyatt plaza so WC fans can go shopping after the games?
not true, the capacity of Khalifa Stadium is already 45, 000 i heard they are adding something on top, an assemby of some sort. that does not need any demolition,
Very True baldrick. but again they have to expand it now, which require space.
why you have to worry if it is not your property?

_fingers crossed_(i hope not)

Arien, they may make the stadium 65,000 seat, but the vast majority will be WC visitors without cars, and when the WC is over there will never be 65,000 people in that stadium
Relax people... A new, bigger, better Villagio will rise up from the rubble of this one..
That sounds cool genesis.
Hope they dont do it. I think it was even listed as one of top 50 malls around the globe
Might be in Future we'll have Only Stadiums to Visit in Qatar for our Weekend.

Totally untrue and was denied by the minister of municipality on local newspaper. No further eminent domain will take place there

Personally I think this is a load of poppycock.
Relocation is the answer! Business could not stop.
Moreso, that Qatar is preparing for the 2022 World Cup.
oh no/ thats crazy
First time I heard it, they were saying Villagio will be brought down to construct Olympic village in case Qatar gets the Olympics.
World Cup doesn't require anything like that so don't think it is required now..
@ propertyinqatar...there's no way villagio and hyatt can be saved man... there's a requirement for 2022 so we've got to accept the fact that someday we're gonna miss these two shopping malls...
Isn't there a big frickin tower between Khalifa stadium and Villagio?
It makes no economical sense to do this, and there is already sufficient space to carry out the expansion. I really think it is just a rumour.
propertyinqatar, it is yet to be confirmed, do not overreact just yet.. :P
same as baldrick, I've only heard this twice here in QL, first time I heard it was from Arien..
How can they destroy Villagio? They use it to promote Qatar all over the world saying it's Doha's best mall...
The only place I've heard this rumour is here, twice!
Sad news for All, Anyhow we've very less place to visit in Qatar,So Pls Save This Man......
Oryx, little mj and I have lots of fond memories in Villaggio.. :)
well the good side is i will save a lot of money....
i pop in to buy milk and end up with shoes, clothes etc :)
Heard so :(
Villaggio no more???? :(
It has to happen because the stadium has to be extended .. And it can only be in one direction, since there is housing on the other...
