after a year of winning the bid, where is Qatar now in terms of progress for it's 2022 campaign?

is it moving forward?

or backward?

Sepp 'Bellend' Blatter putting the balls back not football. What has to has happen for him to leave FIFA? He could probably sleep with his mother and say it wasn't against the

Law in Switzerland at the time.....

The only balls being kicked around in 2022 will probably be sepp's. That's unless he's sold them as well.

Football bores me to death. After 90mins all u got is a very low scoring ball game or none at all in the end. thanks to penalty kick. Highlights of the game more often than not are the "almost made goals" or . how could that be exciting? who's gonna use the stadia by the way when all Qatar 2012 wraps up?

They are not cutting the budgets for O&G, that is the number 1 industry as far as they are concerned. (Maybe you consider you are not paid enough but that's your problem)

The amount of work that has to be done in the next 8 1/2 years is scary. (Remember they have to be ready by 2021 not 2022 for the Confederations Cup).

Let's see what has started?

Overland Rail. Haven't seen it

Metro system. Haven't seen it.

Work on any of the 9 stadiums. Haven't seen it.

and so it goes on.....

agree with you dohaguy.. this is a one shot chance to show the world how good qatar is... hope it'll not effect the OIL and GAS industry- the "bread and butter" of Qatar as i believe they are cutting the budgets to this industry to give way to 2022 event...

FIFA – one of the most corrupt organization’s in the world

Flor your insider info doesn't sounds very good. The first stadium according to their original plan was to be up and running by 2015. If they start in 2014 they will not make it. Schedule slipping already?

Qatar has 12 years when it got the right. From an insider, all works pertaining to 2022 will officially start by 2014. What Qatar concentrating now is to finish all contracts already signed and executed by 2013.

And on 2014, they will concentrate on all works that has something to do with 2022 event.

I agree dohaguy, FIFA will rip Qatar off for as much money as possible and if they need to change the World Cup they will do it at the last minute. A number of countries already have the stadiums and facilities and could organise a world cup with just one year's notice.

I dono if Qataris love cricket or not but they love cricketers for sure,

and how many qatari viewers (exclude kids, females and old age) against the asian expats cricket viewers,

FIFA will only think to re-organize the game in year 2020 , other wise there will be no financial benefit of nay one from Qatar economy, think deep.

There will be no problem to the event, there are countries fully ready with facilities to host the event on 1 year prior notice ,

hope Qatar will step up and don't waist the chance .

Looks like there are serious safety and security issues which have suddenly started cropping up so the organizers maybe having a rethink about organizing the games

10 years and counting - someone is going to have to put their foot on the accelerator fairly shortly to show some intent because from where I am sitting, not a lot of 2022 oriented work is going on right now.

FIFA is going to come sniffing around fairly shortly - Qatar is a HUGE gamble and FIFA wont allow QATAR to get behind in preparation - Aus and USA not to mention Uk would step in in a heartbeat with a turnkey package.

You got your point, I knew most Qataris loves football and passion abt it.. what I meant was, from what i have seen, majority of expatriates percentage who live in Qatar(will not state their nationalities) were not into football. During final Champion League last month and Euro 2012 this month, no atmosphere! Hopefully I can get CROWD here, and enjoy the moment together! ;)

Agree with you , but i don't agree with this

" Majorities loves cricket and basketball here!"

its not true at all ! there is no majorities at all in sports yet !

Majorities loves cricket and basketball here! we need more football atmosphere! We need football crowds, football citizen, football on the street, football at restaurant and cafe, open live telecast everywhere..Big Screen football LIVE telecast at the parks!

Recruit people from football nation countries! they will EAT, WORK, SLEEP with football,..football! Mandatory interview question for new recruitment. Who is Pele? Where he came from?. Dont hire if they fail to answer! ;P. About the progress, No moving forward, no backward. its like stuck somewhere...Peace!
