Qatar to Host World Cup Over U.S. is "Wrong Decision," Obama Says

president obama is an excellent speaker, or that's how anyone would sound after 8 years in the Bush. Normally, he should have ended his statement with congratulating the winners, but I think his frustration got the best of him. unless, like i pointed out somewhere else, he knows something that we don't .... maybe he meant one small country can't host the world cup and the war on iran in the same decade, that's the only thing he could have meant if it wasn't a slip of the tongue. conspiracy theorists, please advise...

Actually Obama should watch what he says as we voted him in to avoid all the stupid remarks of the last 8 years. We hold him to a higher standard.

SEPP BLATTER was asked: "Who is your favourite Qatar player?"

The FIFA president replied: "Well, it's a toss-up between Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix."

While I agree with what Qhris says,ie certainly everyone has his/her opinion and the right to voice it,I fervently hope hearing such dooming statements from world leaders itself will make Qatar doubly determined to prove detractors wrong and host a WC the world will always remember...fondly!

@Qhris....Good....so now you have started administering the dose of "feeling superior" yourself.... how do you feel now.

You guys are pathetic, it's no wonder the leaders of this world don't know what to do.

Did he stick to political correctness? No.

You want him to just say what you want to hear, not his actual opinion?. This is why he got voted in, for being different to the lying scum before him.

He spoke his mind as an individual; a concept that is clearly alien to all the people in this thread before me.

This is sheer frsutration from his side...as US was snubbed publicly eventhough Qatar is almost occupied by US armies. If it was Saudi or some other country, they might have withdrawn from the bid to let the US save their face...!!!

Qatar is a friend of the US but a friend that seems to be aware of its own merits. That's what Qatar has shown and made a difference.

Qatar is a country that generously gives in terms of its friendship with other nations. But it seems to know how to ask for what it thinks it deserves....in a sporting spirit...!!!

Way to go Qatar.

I'm disappointed with a few of his comments since the announcement.. has changed my perception of him.

I guess Obama forgot about political correctness and the fact that the US could benefit from upcoming contracts for 2022, huge error in judgement to build bridges and advance business. Its a shame he claims one thing and says another! The UK is getting ready to go after business, at least they didn't make such a statement.

Yes he could only if US was not in the race itself...
