2022 could be held in winter

BERLIN - The 2022 soccer World Cup in Qatar could take place in January or February to avoid the scorching temperatures of the summer months in the desert state, FIFA Executive Committee member Franz Beckenbauer said on Saturday.

Beckenbauer, who won the 1974 World Cup as West Germany captain and also coached his nation to the 1990 title, said hosting the tournament during the winter would be an alternative.

The World Cups are traditionally held during the northern hemisphere's summer months after the end of the domestic league competitions.

If the FIFA executive committee will agree to change the 2022 tournament to winter then that could be big advantage for Qatar to host the 2022.

Qatar can save lots of money in making cooled stadiums and fan zones. Above that all the soccer lovers can enjoy the matches at the fullest.

If FIFA can decide the chenge the game in winter then that could be a big step.

Plans for the EPL, one of the biggest leagues would have to change for 2022 and that would be a major undertaking :-(

Finally some brains!

I love winter time here in Qatar because there is no snow and it is a refreshing chill wind that permeates throughout the season.
