Mowasalat announces opening of five new bus stations in Qatar

In an ongoing effort to offer high-quality transportation services in Qatar, five new bus stations have been opened in different locations as part of the Public Bus Infrastructure Programme.
It was announced on Tuesday by Mowasalat (Karwa) that the Lusail, Al Wakra, Industrial Area, Al Sudan and Al Rayyan bus stations are fully operational. Currently, work is underway on the bus stations at West Bay, Msheireb, and Al Gharrafa, and these are scheduled to open soon.
The Ministry of Transport (MoT) is implementing the Public Bus Infrastructure Programme in coordination with the Ashghal Public Works Authority (Ashghal) for the purpose of providing quality transportation services and modern parking facilities strategically distributed throughout the country – making access easy and affordable access for all.
It is aimed at encouraging vehicle owners to use modern public transportation systems while helping them save time and cost.

The Public Bus Infrastructure Programme has been envisioned to improve services on public roads and at major intersections by achieving smoother traffic flow, less congestion and less carbon emissions while providing a significant enhancement to Qatar’s public transportation network.
It supports the country’s public transportation network and Doha Metro services for citizens, residents, visitors and FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 fans, who can make use of public transportation to reach World Cup stadiums.
The bus stations are constructed in accordance with the highest global safety and environment standards, GSAS. The bus depots and stations have important design and operational considerations with three-star environmental quality for energy saving and environmental conservation.
As part of the programme, “Park and Ride” facilities are available at certain locations. Free parking spaces are available for passengers, who can park their vehicles and avail of metro services to reach their destinations.
