lolz rizks ...shakira movements lol

it looks strange...bt this gives an idea to the engineers that they can make this kind of turns on the tracks to make it adventurous and enjoyable ride of train

adobe photoshop can defy laws of physics !!!

but yeah, railway tracks have a minimum gap for longitudnal expansion in summers, if the gap is reduced the tranverse tensile forces (sideways, much easier)) can deform the track to a large extent, but i doubt it will move to that much extent.

I don't understand one thing, It is possible that earthquake can cause lines to bend but what seems strange is that the joints with which lines are held to earth / surface plates are also in the same curve along with lines and no surface plate is out of order? i wonder if earthquake caused the surface plate(usually of wood) Joining bolts and lines bent in a simitarical position and then the pole on the side is not affected, not even bent.

Hope engineers can explain with some logic.

A blacksmith forges a long sword out of a short block. If enough energy is applied, steel becomes stretchable and can be formed.

By lonesome dove• 6 Dec 2010 14:30

meaning... steel has a greater elasticity than rubber? from the way i look at it, its been stretch as if it was a rubber band.

Dave Petley, blogging at the American Geophysical Union, isn’t exactly sure what caused the strange deformations, but speculates that “The compression on the very strong railway line was accommodated when a weak point was found, leading to a comparatively rapid deformation to form the main buckle on the left. This then concentrated stress on both sides of the buckle, allowing the other (right side) bends to form.” Hm! Either way, it is a reminder of just how incredibly powerful the physical forces underneath our shoes are.

There it is. Now imagine the force or energy of seismic waves. Imagine what they could do.

Rizks, don't you have a part on your body that changes size and form when energy is applied??

lonesome, energy applied to the steel will "heat" it up (cause oscillation of the atoms). You don't have to use fire and a hammer. There are other forms of energy available from an earthquake.

You know, hislam, even though steel seems to be very solid, in reality it is lots of empty space. The atoms are small compared to the space they occupy. The forces of the earthquake are beyond your comprehension. But for the atoms the forces are easily obvious. And they are shaken out of their positions even easier. The experienced fact that the railways are straight has a certain probability, but it is not 1!

its not because of earthquake, its because of the computer effects!!! logically, look at the steel tracks, its too long in bended position and you can only bend metals when it is put on fire!!

We have a rail system?

Being the expert here, saying that it's normal:

1. how did the rails elonged to fulfill the curves instead of a straight line?

2. How the surronding land is almost unaffected?
