Travel Summary

•There is an underlying threat from terrorism in Qatar. Attacks, although unlikely, could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers. See Safety and Security - Terrorism .

•We advise British nationals in Qatar to maintain a high level of security awareness, particularly in public places. You should avoid large gatherings and demonstrations. We are aware of reports of a possible protest on Tuesday 15 March or Wednesday 16 March.

Its true - the first paragraph is almost a standard "boilerplate" on the FCO website for most countries - sign of the times - the 2nd paragraph which specifically refers to dates is interesting - they tend NOT to put stuff on their website n an effort to create unease or out of speculation or contrary to what most QLers think, "To p+ss them off" - there is generally no smoke without fire - we will see this week no doubt.

Apart from the sentence "We are aware of reports of a possible protest on Tuesday 15 March or Wednesday 16 March", that has been on the FCOs website for years. Seriously.

Nothing to worry about. This is a nonsense. There is nothing in common between the countries experiencing unrest, and Qatar. UK Foreign Affairs are being ridiculously over cautious by publishing this.
