"Discussions are under way to allow the

construction of churches in the kingdom. We cannot forecast the

outcome," said Archbishop Paul-Mounged El-Hashem, the papal envoy to

the Gulf.

I'm planning to go to this Catholic church this Friday since it is Good Friday.  On Good Friday and Christmas, I prefer the old-styled traditions and ceremonies that some modern Protestant churches have left behind.  I usually go to the Protestant churches in Doha at other times.

yeah right! the roads to the church is not so good as there was no signs/ directions to follow and we almost got lost. the roads is rough and might got trouble with the car tires, whew! we tried the road from industrial area. on the other side, from old church i heard from a collegue that the road there going to church is also a mess...longer rough road and there are much huge trucks passing, dusty and lots of construction. i hope the roads would be paved as soon so that many can have access to the church and exercise their faith and duties as christians!

but just the same, we like to salute and extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the men and women of QATAR for making this big step in making this church into reality! It is indeed a big leap in uniting and respecting a multi cultural, multi lingual, multi religious community such as Qatar.

by the way, does anybody know about the time and day of the mass here?

thank you...

I believe that all - expat and local, christians and muslims should be happy, because this is small step, but step toward a good future and understanding between people here and allover the world. I'm happy that qatari people choose this way showing their good will. Thanks.

I also believe that any church, mosk, temple or sinagog is a communion center  where people can learn to live peacefully and to accept the diversity as a natural in this world.

That is great news, a new Catholic Church to go to. My husband went but he could not get in. It was packed and they had a lot of police with guns. You had to go through a medal detector to get in. I hope to check it out when I arrive in Doha this summer.

That is the Church of Qatar. Call it community centre or social meeting place or whatever. Right now one needs a 4x4 to reach the place as the whole place is a mess as there is no proper road & there is construction work on both sides of the road.

Still, one can go there with a normal car if one drives carefully & slowly.
