The Mutah marriage, the Mahr

Platao36
By Platao36

Like some of you know, i' m gonna get married and i have been reading about these procedures, I'm getting confused, not in my love but just with this procedures, my head is turning around and around, it seams so complex to me.

I already know that I'll have to pay the Mahr, but i read that it's part of the Mutah (marriage contract), so, is this something that i must negociate with my Bride's family?

I think women should eventually be more able to give me an idea how it is, but i don't discriminate men, any help is welcome, and your tolerance towards my doubts will be highly appreciated.

As far as i read it doesn't need to be money, the profet once said to a poor man that hadn't money to give an iron ring as nikkah

Thanks all brothers and sisters for helping me clarify this matter.

Dear Prother

Good news I`m really happy for you, first Mahr is the gift from a man to the woman he intened to marry & this could be anything (one man was so poor & went to the Prophet Muhammed & he said to this man seek even an iron ring),& the lowest Mahr is the most god Blessing Marriage)this Hadith is for the woman family so they make marriage Easy as long as the man Practice Islam & knowen by Good Islamic Mannors, in some country Now they consider that if you don`t have money you pay Small amount & the rest Written in the Marriage contract as Down payment a samll amount you already payed (Mokadam = In Advance)& the rest will be (MoaKhar = Late Payment)&this remain as a debt on your shoulder & should be payed when you got enough money or by installments while you live together, in case you Died(they will deduct this amount as a First periourty from your remaining wealth if any still), in some country like egypt as an example we consider Mahr is The amount payed to family to prepare their part in marriage(they bought Dresses & some items from furniture also)i hope you excuse me for my language & also i hope you got the point after all if you need any please PM me.

see mahr is a ladies rite according to our beloved prophet Muhammad u have to give if u want to touch her and it can be anything gold, silver or even quran or even a iron ring

Mahr is negociable in Islam, but it also depends on the status of both families, so customs have a role here. To know the approxomity of your wife to be's mahr, you can ask her relatives and girls mahr in thier families.

hmm, well, there are two types of Mehr. One is Mehr Fatimi which The Prophet Muhammad PBUH, gave to his daughter. The other one is what you think is appropriate (it could be a million dollars, a villa etc). In Britain the mehr Fatimi is £582 these days. Hope it helps and like everyone says, seek sincere guidance and help from scholars.

Cheers

PM: No, she's sunite, i found that expression while i was googling about muslim marriage.

Regarding the nikah, do you think i'll need a lawyer specialized on the Shariah?

Thanks for your advices too :)

Dancing: My bride is muslim and i'm converting really soon, already spoke with sheik David Munir at Lisbon's mosque. :)

Why you asking about Mahr if you are not muslim!!!

this condition of Mahr is in Islam & If you need to understand then you need to ask simply not post such a topic & after all you can`t marry a muslim Lady, so if you are not Muslim & Ur lady is not muslim too,so Pay or not to pay it seems you really don`t love her cause it`s not a sale you got a wife from(if you have money then make her happy if not tell her family your situation).

Bloody 'ell plato...you not married yet? Wouldn't it be far easier to find someone without all this.......you might be too old to get married or the novelty would have worn off after all this!!

I'll call to Lisbon mosque today to see if they can help me out, was trying to find an explanation, guess i'll have to shut up :(

ye agreed Britexpat.

Old friend.. I am seriously beginning to wonder whether you ask these questions just to get a religious argument going..

This forum is not for such questions because none of us is an expert in Shariah or the Quran.

We will all give our opinions and our interpretations. So, its best to ask scholars about these issues.

hope ur doing fine as well as ur lover.

I dont think we have any Islamic scholar here on Ql.

U have many doubts on Islam...ur most welcome to ask and clear but be careful with whom u ask.

well some answers u get here may be wrong or correct but i suggest u to get answers from Islamic scholars.

TV channels like ISLAM TV and HUDA TV have scholars taking live calls and clearing any doubt.

If u dont get these channles on TV, u can view them on internet.

here are the websites.

http://www.islamchannel.tv/

http://www.huda.tv/

There ate websites which have scholars answering the doubts.

there are plenty of websites, u can google them..again there are fake websites too but they r in minority.

i hope to provide u those websites sumtime later.
