Charity in Qatar
I know that giving away something that you don't use anymore is not really sharing, but giving leftovers... but still, why throwing away things that are in very good conditions, why throwing away clothes that don't fit the kids anymore (and they even begged not to give them away yet) when someone out there needs these things and can't afford them..
Anyway, I called the Dhreima Orphanage, offering 3 boxes of nice clothes and clothes, all in good condition (we got rid of the things that were not in good conditions anymore), and they refused to take them.... They only accept NEW items.
I guess Qataris are wealthy enough to give new things away, because where I come from, orphanages would very happily accept those things (of course, as long as they are not rubbish). I just didn't think an Orphanage would be so demanding.
Am I wrong?? We just want to give away things that can still be used but cannot be used by us!!
Does anyone here know a charity that would take these items?? Maybe to send them to cities that need them more than Dhreima Orphanage.
(PS. I didn't know where to post this thread!)

donosa, also in Villaggio by the foodcourt entrance there is a bin there put up by Qatar Charity where you can put the clothes for charity...
There is also a big type of charity bin outside the doors of the entrance into the food court at vallaggio. I agree with you totally, why let good clean clothes go to waste when there is always someone worse off than you needing something. I have lots of Good clean clothes I was going to give to charity but now I will be giving them to the peeps who are arranging a table top sale to help QAWS.
ok donosa all the best
