Buddhist/meditation groups?

Does anyone know if there are any Buddhist or meditation groups in Doha?

I'm personally interested in sort of American-style Buddhism (e.g. Insight Meditation), but also curious if any Asian Buddhist groups are practicing in the area.

Greetings,

I practive Meditation, visualization, reiki, chakra healing and chakra scanning.

I focus on the harmony and peace that is brought baout by Buddhist as well as Sanskrit mantras as well.

I am just a medium through which the cosmic universal energy flows as everybody else is.

Though, I w ould like to associate with like minded beings who recognize and respect the higher powers of nature and the universe.

Light and Luck

I'm still interested to get this going, i think it just takes a little effort. It would be cool to track somebody down who could guide us in our initial sessions. I'm sure people would be willing to pay a reasonable amount each time for the persons trouble

Great, even if we start out small, that's okay. Once we've got a couple more people, we can meet to discuss.

hi there. I'm very interested in practising buddhist meditation here in doha. Like Marjorie, the Sathya Sai Baba isn't my cup of tea either.

It seems there are already a small number of us who'd be interested in getting together to do this. Maybe we should. What do you think?

THEY do have a Art of Living group here that advertises in the gulftimes regularly, i think they are into meditation and things like that, but not quite the buddhist kind meditation.

a lot of stuff is restricted here, but if its done, it is tolerated and no one will do anything to such activities unless its creating a havoc and giving wrong messages to the public.

something as peaceful as meditation shouldnt be a problem to start, as long its done quitely and peacefully...get what i mean.

happy heart

love it if we could get a buddhist / meditation group set up - that would be amazing. I have a lot of literature on the buddhist religon - particularlay the tibetian ideals. it would be wonderful if we could set this up then we could all help each other out with things! I have been dying to ask this question myself!

Someone else just asked me about meditation groups in Doha, so I am commenting again here to bump this conversation up.

Has anyone become aware of any meditation groups in the last six months? Or would anyone be interested in starting one? :-)

If you do find any meditation groups I would be interested in hearing about them too.

Interesting! Sathya Sai Baba is totally not my cup of tea, but I'm really amazed to hear they have a center right here! Wow!

Thanks much, and let me know if you or your friends come up with any other ideas. :-)

Sorry Marj, it seems from e46 post that there r places for this n Ads?!! Sure Qatar has moved much in the last few yrs.. I have no issue with this as I like open societies where all can live, worship n do as they wish :)

Love this site, it tells me so much about my own country, which I now know that what I know is little :)

Thanks, Jassim. I was hoping that answering a question on an online discussion board wouldn't count as "advertising," but I suppose you're right.

If anyone would like to e-mail me an answer privately, you should be able to do so through the "contact" tab in my profile.

As practicing anything but Islam, Christianity or Judaism is not allowed in public, or to be advertised for. I think u will have to ask someone in person. DG, u lived in Korea so do u know of any? :)
