Blackened Car Registration Plates
By Leatherface •
So my question is why do people hide or blacken their car plate numbers while posting car photos for sale? Does it serve any useful purpose?
Even if such cars have penalties pending with the Traffic department, any prospective buyer will obviously ask for those penalties settled.
Does the seller think that no buyer will come forward if the car has violation penalties due?
its for privacy..... u can give the number to some1 who is really intrested to buy taking into consideration with the price..... why to give out the details to the whole world......
It is just for privacy's sake. Most car ad sites edit the plates out to protect the car's identity. For instance, a thief could use the plate info to locate a car he wants to steal. Or a wealthy local might not want his car sale publicly known.
A car with history of violations indicate a careless driver, and I would rather not buy a battered car from him.
some of them are just scams trying to sell nice cars, at cheap prices and if they do not "block" those plates then the people would realize it's something odd on the sale.
I have even seen same add, same plates, different owners, different prices...WTH??
And yes you are right if I am going to buy a second hand car upon showing to the traffic dept I will ask to check for fines, settle them immediately and then we'll see.
Regards!!
