Bird Flu

I see bird flu is back in the news again. What do you think? Should we really be worried or is it another SARS created to spread panic and line the pockets of the elite (for example, Donald Rumsfeld is a major stockholder of the company that holds the patent for Tamiflu).

I ate duck in Veitnam and I'm still alive and kicking. I think it's been blown out of proportion, like mad cow.

Symptoms of bird flu:

Fever of 100.4 degrees F or higher

Cough

Sore throat and muscle aches

And possibly, pneumonia

Symptoms of regular flu

Fever of 100.4 degrees F or higher

Headache

Extreme tiredness

Dry cough

Sore throat

Runny or stuffy nose

Muscle aches

Symptoms of SARS

Fever of 100.4 degrees F or higher

Headache

General discomfort and body aches

Possibly a dry cough with mild respiratory symptoms

how the hell do you tell the difference??? scary huh???

how many SARS deaths have been reported 800+ over a 4 year period and bird flu 124 deaths (qatar sees about 200 road deaths a year).

Tamiflu is not effective against it.

You can only catch it from birds (close prolonged contact or eating RAW infected bird meat or blood)

You cant catch it from humans.

It has to mutate several times before it can spread from human to human.

i have the feeling that SARS wasnt spreading quick enough and someone came up with "SARS with wings" just to put the frighteners on people

Well, since the speciallists and Ministry of Publical Halth announced that Qatar is clear of Bird_Flu, we don't have to worry about it.

But as an advice we should be carefull when we visit places that were affected by or discovered cases of Flu infection; places like Far East and Europe.

Cheers !
