
Al Jazeera's DG resigns "to serve country"

After two years at the helm, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim Al Thani, the Director General of the Al Jazeera Network, is leaving his post to take up the post of Minister of Economy and Trade.
In a farewell message to staff that was released by the network's PR office, Sheikh Ahmed said:
"Today I leave Al Jazeera to answer another call, to serve my country, with full confidence of your continued success."
The farewell message goes on to thank the Network's staff and highlight some of his accomplishments.
Sheikh Tamim spoke live on TV earlier today, and issued an Emiri order that formed the new Cabinet that Sheikh Ahmed is now a part of.
