How to get pet passport in Bahrain or UAE?

Some postings on QL have mentioned that it's possible to send your pet to Bahrain or the UAE to get a pet passport for further travel to another pet passport country.
My question: How does one practically do this? Would they allow a person coming on a tourist visa to bring his pet and issue it with a pet passport? How much time would it require?

They have to stay there for 6 months before getting the passport. Sadly it is not a case of popping in, getting a passport and then jetting out again.

Call or email Dr. Nonie Coutts in Bahrain.http://www.noniecoutts.com/

Post: PO Box 26173, Adliya, Bahrain. Tel: Manama: (+973) 17-245515 Saar: (+973) 17-691397

Be aware that Bahrain is rabies free and they do not allow animals in who do not have a Pet Passport. Without a pet passport , your pet will go to quarentine.

Call or email one of the vets/businesses that deal with importing/exporting pets in UAE. There are several - Dubai Kennels and Cattery, The British Vet Clinic in Abu Dhabi, the Animal Care Centre in Sharjah spring to mind. All of these places have websites and are very experienced in this area.
