Third party job for expats okayed.
The Ministry of Interior has agreed to permit expatriate manpower to work for a third party other than their sponsor, says a report published in the local Arabic daily Arrayah.
The elaxation of the rule in this regard is in response to a request made by the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The change in the rule is as follows, says the report: “A person will not be considered as working for other than his sponsor in the following conditions: If the person is working in the sponsor’s firm or under his personal sponsorship; if he works in the sponsor’s house but is under the sponsorship of the latter’s firm; if he works in the house of sponsor’s other wife/husband as the case may be; if he is working in a branch of the firm while his sponsorship is under the main office of the firm or vice-versa. And if an expatriate works for a firm belonging to his sponsor and several other partners a written undertaking shall be taken from the sponsor to not to repeat this violation again.”
The ministry’s decision has been welcomed by the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and
Industry.

Nothing changes except sponsors will no longer be penalized for you working in other divisions or companies within that same sponor's group. The relaxation is to help the sponsors not the employees. You still cannot get a part time job etc.

I am hearing more and more 'rumors' about the NOC, they say effective October (or so) it should disappear and transferring will be easier.

But hey, seeing is believing.

Anybody anything on that?
