Hiya every1,

I recently got a job offer from qatar foundation. The interview was conducted in dubai and i intend to relocate to qatar soon. Can sumbdy advise me abt qatar foundation? I heard housing is very expensive in Doha very much like in dubai. Qatar fundation is willing to provide me housing. Should i accept it?

what is iteration rate in Qatar foundation? Is there job insecurity as a part of nationalisation? how is the work culture in QF?

I beleive there ppl working in QF in this forum. I'd really appreciate they respond to this either in the forum or by PM.
BTW i have seen some negative posts abt qatar foundation too in teh forum.

Cheers.

Hi,

Been there in 2007, 2009 and 2011, impressed everytime by the development of Education City and the country itself...Great place to work in, no worries about security for sure but check for accomodation, do they provide it for you?

I was trying to check out myself about Al-Gharrafa and Al-Zouhour compounds features through a post on this website but was not successful.. Try your luck!

Can you ask your friend to help me apply in QF?. I am a residence Visa holder under husband sponsor. I am Civil Engineering graduate and willing to apply for any vacant position in QF. Some told me that if you have contact inside QF you have a big chance working there. Hope you could help me. Thank you. A blessed day to you.

The biggest problem is the CID report, you may be denied a work permit after 3 months for failing the CID report. This means you will have to leave Qatar. You can not work at QF without the CID report being approved.

shaf, no of course you can't walk into an ofice at QF to apply for a job! Can you imagine the wasted time that would be for an employer? You go on-line to QF recruitment. That way you can match yourself to the jobs that are currently available. YOU do the homework, not the employer.

I believe he may be referring to Job security (nationalization) rather than personal security.

If you land a professional level position (grade 6 or above -- the scale is 3 to 11) with QF they are a very generous and great employer from a benefits and work environment perspective. QF HR is VERY slow but once you get beyond them and start your job things will be great!

The housing is also nice -just make sure you get in writing the type of unit you'll be living in. If they promise you a 2 bedroom unit make sure that you have it in writing. If you're single and not VERY senior (less than grade 8 or 9) you'll likely be in a one bedroom apt. You may be able to negotiate for a larger unit if you are grade 7 or above. Good luck!

Hi Folks,

Noticed a few comments (seemanoj, kath_0503) related to the IT department. Could you throw some light on the IT environment in Qatar Foundation eg : Infrastructure, Platforms, Applications, Process Frameworks....

A while back there were some ads for ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) professionals but none lately. Just wondering if this process framework is still being pursued.

I'm a Canadian Citizen working as a Senior Systems Analyst looking for openings in ITIL or Business Intelligence/ Data Warehousing.

Greatly appreciate any comments/ advice.

Cheers,

Mike.

Someone said you have to worry about working for QF for security issues... I'm sorry to say that is completely wrong. (You said it was a security issue because it's part of the govt, but any issues for expats and the govt is because of illegal activity, nothing more)

The QF is a great place to work for and as mentioned, a generous institution. Mystica has been a great advisor.

QF is a great place to work. Education City is an amazing experiment and it will be great to get in on the ground floor. Well relatively...the housing they provide is great, even if their showers are not the best thought out. They soak the entire bathroom. But other than that I have to say I haven't heard any other complaints from those at QF.

Don't worry! you'll find friends through here in QL they organized get together every weekend!

Thanks for all teh insights..I must agree with mystica here..the salaries offered to expatriates in comapanies like QP, QF, Ras gas are too lucrative and very difficult to find in other GCC countries..

i spent most of my leisure time in sports..squash, football, bowling etc..i hope such activities are affordable in qatar.

Another thing that worries me is that.having born n brought up in dubai. I dont know any1 in qatar!!

Cheers!

It may not be like Dubai but I call it mini Dubai myself as I find it as modern as Dubai! It may not be as big as Dubai but you can find everything here same as you can find in Dubai as far as I know! You can have a good time here if you make all the effort! but one thing for sure it's not as crowded as Dubai! See for yourself! Life is great here, you just have to know how to make it exciting!

Judge not! that you be not judged!

i have co-workers who are based in QF...and all of them are satisfied and they never think of going somewhere else. Guess because as i have heard they are very generous and the work place itself has a lot to offer that's why they are having fun. One of them who works in the Her Highness office got her own laptop as a gift for her job well done!

Thanx. The only negative thing i have heard abt QF so far is that there is a risk of qatarization. But i guess that risk of nationalisation exists all over the gulf.

Qatar Foundation is a very good company to work with! I have some friends there and they are satisfied with all the benefits they've got! they are very similar with Qatar University. very generous company and housing is great, spacious and has all the facilities to keep you going! People who would say negative in Qatar must have not experience living in any other part of Gulf as Qatar is one of the most generous when it comes to benefits etc!

Judge not! that you be not judged!

Hi Lina,

I applied though the qatar foundation careers webpage. All openings are posted there. The was huge job advertisement in local newspapers in dubai by QF. Thats how i came to know of these openings.

The only issue here is that QF recruitment process is very lengthy.
