Pinoys can’t work in Kuwait, Qatar, UAE

This might be of interest to my Pinoy friends.

Well done Philippine!

RECRUITMENT agencies should start looking for better opportunities for Filipino workers.

It was after the recruitment agencies received information that the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) approved the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)’s proposal not to send Filipino workers in Kuwait, Qatar and United Arab Emirates.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz confirmed the proposal submitted by DFA but the agency’s board of director has not yet issued a resolution regarding it.

The DFA presented the said proposal because the said countries in the Middle East failed to comply with the existing guidelines, and violate local and international laws on labor including the Migrant Workers Act being implemented in the Philippines.

The said act doesn’t allow sending workers in countries not having laws on giving protection and equal right to every worker.

Once approved, the total number of domestic workers will be dropped to more than half percent especially the mentioned Middle East countries that had the most employed household service workers.

Well, it's good that they are trying to protect our kababayans from maltreatment but the government should have a ready alternative for these OFWs who will be affected by the said resolution. Moreso, the Philippine Embassy in Qatar should act upon this scenario... is there any negotiation with the Qatar Government to make a compromise so we can abide by the requirements of both countries?

This only applies to domestic workers. I believe we should share information as the way we read it. Anyway, what the Philippine government is doing is to protect the Filipino workers against unfair labor practice which is right. They should also protect the Filipino from corrupt immigration officers. Who do not have a right to hold a person in living the country unless with a court order and a legal reason and asking for money..
