Hello,

Anyone working with Alfardan still connected to this discussion?

Please can you tell me about the accomodation they provide to employees? They offered me a sharing with two other persons with individual room and washroom.

Thank you.

good day! i am a new member in this forum. an HR specialist from alfardan called me last sunday, june 21, 2009 asking if i would be interested to join their company for an executive secretary post reporting to the COO. the salary she mentioned is around QR6,800 or Php90k+ (all inclusive - accommodation and transportaiton). for those who are currently working in qatar, i would like to ask if the salary offered would be enough? how much usually is the average house rental, meals and transportation expenses? right now, i am quite confused because i was also offered by an employer (american company) but local based (here in the Philippines) as an executive assistant post with a monthly salary of P40k + benefits. is it really worth to take the salary offered by alfardan? although i am aware that the salary is tax free, i may not be able to save that much because of the high standard of living in qatar.

would really appreciate any responses/inputs that you can give. thank you very much & God bless!

Hi Jaguarken..

We came from the same school, but I'm from batch '99. I'm also a CPA who plans to try my luck abroad. Did you accept the job offer? Hope you could share to me how you've applied for the job. Thanks.

Alfardan is one of the biggest companies here in Doha Qatar. Most the people in HR are Filipina. They offer me a job as a secretary and offer me QR3,500 as full package and to be assign in BMW Showroom in Al Saad but the boss is Egypian and he always shouting that what the HR told me, and sometimes they ask you to render extra hours without pay but still this is up to you. 3,500 is a big amount if you don't have experience here in Qatar.

Goodluck.

hehe. i forgot the transpo. it maybe 4590-550=4040x14=P56,560.i guess. But when i read some topics here about salary. Majority of people here will say that i should not accept teh offer coz it was too small.

let's go on ym better, same as my nick here. same school we came from, perhaps same age,..i'm at home right now, i work at the restaurant and it's ramadan right now so all restos are close, until iftar time wich is the breakfast time roughly around 5:06 today, worry not your salary is quite big for filipino, i guess? but you'll be able to save don't worry too much!!!

3.33QAR per meal?? what kind of food can i buy for that amount? Is that enough for a cup of rice and some descent meals? yup.20AED is that P272? yeah i will save as much as i can. I dont need luxury living there coz im used to a simple kind of living here and we are poor. Luckily i able to finished my bs accountancy in PUP then passed the board and after working for 4 years i found an opportunity to work there.Currently im working here in ADB at Mandaluyong. By the way how could you able to chat by this time and you have still your work? Also is this the best site in qatar forum available coz its the only one that i found out? The gross salary that they give to me is 5750QAR plus other benefits like ticket, medical, gratuity pay and discretionary bonus. So out of that i will deduct 400QAR for food, 60 qar for utilities, 500qar for bed space and 200qar for other expenses. and hopefully i can save 4590qar or P68,000 monthly. is that possible?? I really wanted to save at least P50K monthly. It will be a great help for my family. Also i dont know other expenses that i may able to incur there

300QAR for food, the hr said ok,bec. thats the minimum standard here,.. thats my food allowance actually,..just do simple arithmetic? 300/30 then devide it again by three for breakfast, lunch and dinner? it's how much? 3.33QAR only, yeah right you can buy yourself not even a burger,... but seriously, if your really that thrift you'll survive and you got a loan already,.. so no problem on your part,.. just be carefull in spending your money, mind you i only got 20AED(DUBAI money) when i first arrive here, but am still alive, i guess?

I see. I have a ps2 slim edition but i think it will be an additional excess baggage if i will bring it there.hehe.Probably i will buy another one if i able to save some money. Well always give your best and your hardwork will be paid off. My salary there is i think also not that good but i will accept it nevertheless coz finding a high paying job here in the philippines is a nightmare.hehe.hope i can find a good room there. The Hr of alfardan told me that there were two filipinos that will also come in the Comapny and hopefully i can share rooms with them. According to her 300QAR for food is enough. is that real? and the maximum transport is around 500 QAR? 40QAR for utilities if sharing accomodation. Hope that will be true. Luckily she promise me that the Company will help me to cope up with expenses in my first month coz they will loan me around 4000QAR if ever depends on my needs.

lol, honestly, i wish my salary same as everybody here,.. my salary is only a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the regular salary here at qatar, i'm a trainer/server at at a restaurant here. the most unvalued/underpay industry.

good for you? i'm wondering how much is PSP there? here still 800QAR almost 900, thinking of getting one or perhaps i'll wait for ps3? bring your ps2, anyway its only 600QAR here anyways,..

I really want to work in EY there. Earnst and young but ofcourse i will work first to alfardan. If i find out that that Company is good then probably i will change my plan. My contract there is unlimited so i believe that if i perform well then i can stay as long as i want. I hope that the Alfardan Companys working environment is good especially that i know now that theres a lot of filipinos there. By the way what is your work there in qatar(marcoantholin)?probably you worked in a high paying job there.Anyway im wishing myself a luck to survice there. I will really miss my family here and my PS2.hehe.Coz i really wanna play Smackdown vs. Raw and nba live. by the way me and my wife will watch the Smackdown wrestler live here in the philippines.

qatar itself is a safe place, eventhough the transportation situation here is horrible, but it's a nice place to live. cheap? depend on your earning and your definition what is cheap or not. filipino food? there is, but not as good as what you use to eat back there in the philippines, we have a souq(market) here its known as filipino souq (souq alsiri), almost all things related to filipino can be found there.

GOD BLESS!!!

thanks for various comments. actually i also have options to stay here in the philippines and work in SGV a member firm of Earnst ang young.Im also hired by this firm but ofcourse the salary here is horrible thats why im considering other opportunities. I've decided to accept the offer in alfardan as a consolidation accountant. I told the Hr to help me find a sharing accomodation coz i really cant afford the flat/villa there besides im used to a simple kind of living. a bedspace is enough. Hopefully i can finish processing my papers here and by next month i will be in qatar. Is there any filipino food there? Is it cheap? Is the place safe?

your lucky then, its no problem, actually, its up to you, how you would be able to budget your salary, anyhow cost of living here are more expensive than in dubai though theres a lot of things to spend in dubai than here.

opportunities are endless everywhere, until then GOD BLESS!!!

As far as the reputation of Al Fardan goes, it has a very good reputation in Qatar. They are rich as a company I guess, cause they seem to have their own Money exchange, High quality Jewelery shops, dealerships for Range Rover, BMW and Ferrari ... SO that does have some weight... I think they also have several businesses related to Finance and Oil...Hope this helps...

The HR employee of alfardan group (which is also a filipino) said to me that i can sponsor my wife after i get a residence permit there. probably the processing for RP according to her is about 2 months. She also help me to find a job for my wife there. Its my first time to go abroad and kinda scared and at teh same time excited. I also have several officemates before here in the phil who are now working there. I hope i can find a way to cut-off my expenses and i will really tighting up my budget to save. The offer for the position is quite good if we will based it in our country but based on what i found in this site its quite small. But nevertheless im still young and probably find better opportunity whenever it possible.
