World heave collective sigh of relief as all 12 boys, football coach rescued from cave
People around Thailand and the world heaved a collective sigh of relief as all 12 boys and their football coach, belonging to a local club named Wild Boars, were rescued from deep inside a cave they had gone into.
The players and coach, trapped for more than two weeks inside the flooded Thai cave, were rescued, according to a Thai navy SEAL who was involved in the perilous mission.
“We are not sure if this is a miracle, a science, or what. All the thirteen Wild Boars are now out of the cave,” the Thai navy SEAL unit said on its official Facebook page.
The ‘Wild Boars’ football team and their coach got trapped on June 23 while exploring the cave complex in the northern province of Chiang Rai after football practice and a rainy season downpour flooded the tunnels.
British divers found the 13, hungry and huddled in darkness on a muddy bank in a partly flooded chamber several kilometres inside the complex, on Monday last week.
After pondering for days how to get the 13 out, a rescue operation was launched on Sunday when four of the boys were brought out, tethered to rescue divers.
Another four were rescued on Monday and the last four boys and the coach were brought out on Tuesday.
However, celebrations will be tinged with sadness over the loss of a former Thai navy diver who died last Friday while on a re-supply mission inside the cave in support of the rescue.
Twitter reacted to the news with happiness and admiration for the brave boys as well as rescuers. Here are some of the reactions from around the world.
I am amazed by the bravery, resilience, patience, and tenacity of #Thai kids, their coach and also the diving team in Thailand. #Humanity at its best.#ThaiCaveRescue #ThamLuangCave #WildBoars

The divers and rescue mission ppl are the #RealHeros
#ThailandCaveRescue YES! All of the Wild Boars have been rescued! Along with their wellness, I'm also praying for the brave heroes who worked tirelessly to get them out. I'm sure they will still be entering the cave to remove equipment. They need some love & light energy too.

In Northern Thailand tonight was proof that the impossible can be accomplished if everyone puts asside their differences, ego’s, politics, etc and work together towards a common objective. Hallelujah that the 13 Wild Boars have been rescued.
