The online registration for the Haj pilgrimage will start from March 1, 2017.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced that online registrations for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage (1438 Hijri) can be made beginning March 1. The online registration forms will be available until March 30, reported Qatar News Agency.
Both nationals and residents can apply through the website of Hajj and Umrah Affairs Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.
The website, which is accessible in both Arabic and English, can be accessed at www.hajj.gov.qa.
Ali Sultan Al Misifry, Director of Hajj and Umrah Department, said that registrations via the website will be very easy this year.
“We’ve made things simpler this year. For Qatari pilgrims, the applicant should be at least 18 years old and an accompanied person should be at least 16.
Residents should be at least 18 years old, having a minimum of three years of residence in Qatar and should not have performed Haj in the last five years. Female residents without ‘Mahram’ should be at least 45 years old, and in case of an accompanied person, not less than 18 years. This is in addition to the availability of a ‘Mahram,” The Peninsula quoted him as saying. All passports should be electronically readable.
Once the reghistration period ends on March 30, the screening process will be done electronically. Each application will be scrutinized to see whether they fulfill every applicable conditions.
The Haj and Umrah Affairs Department has also allocated a hotline — 132 — to allow the public to communicate with the Department during working time to inquire about everything related to Haj season this year.
