Unconditional dialogue is still the best solution to GCC crisis, reiterates Qatar

It has been more than a year and a half since four neighbouring countries began a one-sided illegal siege of Qatar.

Despite all that has happened, and the continuing violation of fundamental human rights, Qatar still believes that dialogue without preconditions is the best way to solve the Gulf crisis, reported Gulf Times.

Yousef bin Sultan Yousef Laram, Qatar’s Director of Department of International Organisations, was speaking at the 46th meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, which was recently held in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Yousef Laram stressed that Qatar stood firmly in the face of extremism and terrorism in all its forms and added that the country plays an active role in efforts by international and regional bodies to combat it. In this regard, Qatar is cooperating with international organisations and the UN.

He pointed out that the meeting was taking place in the context of significant crises and increasing challenges facing Islamic countries at the political and economic levels. He said that these threats were a result of the continued tension, rising trends of violence and the rise in terrorism and persecution against Muslim minorities in various parts of the world.

He said that the continuing crises in some Muslim countries were due to the failure of the international community on the one hand, and the double standards in dealing with such issues.
