Everyone have their own bad days at offices.

But if you are working at Dubai’s Department of Economic Development office, then Sunday would have been a prime example of a catastrophic day at office.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who also happens to be the vice president and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, decided to go on a surprise inspection tour of the office in Sunday, the first day after schools reopened.

So, did the 67-year-old ruler see an office hustling and bustling with activity? Nope, he didn’t. Empty chairs, and an office that could put the Saw movie franchisee to shame, greeted him.

It was all gloriously caught for posterity on Twitter and here is a 14-second video posted by Dubai’s Media Office.

“He certainly wanted to send a message. Timeliness starts at the top and we won’t go after employees when their bosses aren’t there,” said Mona Al Marri, director-general of the government of Dubai’s media office.

Now, how cool is that?

HH Shiekh Mohammed is my hero and the hero of all his people in the UAE (Citizens and expats all). He is the ideal example of how a leader of a country should be. May God grant him long life and prosperity.
