UAE offers online visa facility to expats living in Qatar

Online application and online payment of visa fees have been introduced for expatriates staying in the Qatar and other GCC countries.

This new service is valid for those with current residence visas and will save them from the hassle of waiting in queues, Khaleej Times reported.

Major-General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, spoke to Khaleej Times on Tuesday.

He said that online application and online payment of visa fees have been introduced for expatriates staying in the GCC on residence visas in order to spare them from the hassle of waiting in queues at the Dubai International Airport.

Major-General Al Marri explained that the new facility is set to help ease visa paper work.

"It is not a compulsory step as yet for those visa applicants to obtain the entry permits into the UAE. The choice is left to them whether to apply online and jump the queues."

"With time, the public will try and get used to the new procedure and come to realise that it would be much easier and more convenient," said Major-General Al Marri.

‘GCC Individual Services’ on www.ednrd.ae gives detailed information and instructions the GCC expatriates with residence visas need to know, prior to applying for UAE entry permits.

The regular procedure, that has been effective, was that those expatriates first finalise the visa fee payment upon arriving at the airport, and then proceed to the immigration counters to get their entry permits.

The GDRFA has been spreading information regarding the new facilities to the public via the social media and brochures.

None of the travel agents Khaleej Times spoke to were aware of the new system.

Hi Guys,

I applied separate visas for myself, wife and son. Got approval for myself within an hour. For wife and son, it is still under process for more than 5 days! travelling date is approaching quickly and I am getting worried. No one is responding on the numbers mentioned in email from MoI.

Anyone can guide me, how to reach a solution?

Thanks,

Zeeshan

The Application page is much better now as compared to the one when i applied in May'15.

Do not forget to click the TT button to translate the information from English to Arabic.

On the website there is a status check link. Input your details and check the status. The Delay may be because a lot of people travel to Dubai during Holidays which may increase the response time. In you application email you would get a contact center no. for the immigration team try and call them. If they do not have a solution they used to provide an Officers no.

Hope you have added all the details required on the application even if they were not marked as mandatory.

Good morning, I need some help, actually I applied online to get UAE visa, but the next day it was rejected, for both me and my wife. What I uploaded the documents I sent only the front side of the Qatar ID, do you think this might be the cause of rejection...

I applied for Dubai visa online but still it under process( last 5 days). I already booked hotel and flight.

After contacting to fly Dubai office I release that still I can get visa on arrival time. But responsible person in fly dubai told that in the case that my visa under process I cannot get visa for me and family at the time of arrival. So I confused, travel or not?

Update:

Online Application 1st Try: Middle Name not Added in online form (It is a non mandatory field But Make sure you fill it you will not get a warning or error msg if you skip) - Result Visa Rejected.

2nd Try: Applied after lot of calls mentioned in previous posts. Status till my Travel Date : Under Process. Visa Issued on 21st May for this application. I was already in Dubai with Visa on arrival which i got eventually with help from "Wasta" . May not be needed in every case.

3rd Try (As mentioned in 2nd try): Took a chance and traveled any way assuming will get Visa on arrival. Got through after some Wasta Calls

On the way back the immigration officers are adding a brochure along with your ticket which say apply for e-visa.

Recommendation: if you are traveling to UAE and apply online, give enough no. of days to process visa. May be September onward lesser time will be required as the system goes full production mode.

Enjoy your trip.

Got through. I would recommend (nationalnalty dependent) just travel and take the visa on arrival. The ednrd has some issues. You may try online option if you have enough days in hand before you travel else just arrive and take the visa. Don't waste your money its non refundable. My friend (egyption nationality) got the visa online the confirmation came while we were at Doha airport waiting for flight I never got confirmation. If possible fly emirates less crowd at the terminal.cheers

Heres the low down of the eVisa for UAE. Its still not enforced yet and entry still at the discretion of the officer at airport

In brief. I had to go through the issue Twice and a whole bunch of calls to Amer service.

Just go and Get the visa on arrival.

I spoke to an immigration Officer on phone after contacting Amer Service as per the immigration officer at the Airport If you have already applied and the process has failed take all your receipts and form copies to the Immigration main office at DUBAI Airport for refund (In my case 2 refunds)

Will update from Dubai.

Checked with QA staff at the airport last night. As of today, UAE still accepts visa on arrival but this may change any time!

Just tried this a few minutes ago and went all the way until the payment tab. Hopefully some technical glitch which is not accepting Qatar "mobile" number, which is a mandatory field. Tried both the formats suggested. Tough luck. :(

britexpat,

in the link provided by you it is written - Expatriates who reside in GCC countries can now apply online for entry permits to visit UAE through Dubai.

But if i want to enter UAE thru Abu Dhabi then it will not work?

@Azhar89: now GCC residents are not allowed to travel without visas.now UAE stopped issuing arrival visas for GCC residents.

I would suggest to check in airport before travel.

Once you are in the http://www.ednrd.ae/ website, on the left side tab at the last row click "GCC Individual" and you can apply for the visa. I have not tried though.

Azhar: The scheme is being phased in gradually and will be fully active after August. You should be able to get a visa on arrival.

As far as I know, the sheme is for everyone
