Two restaurants and a food store have been closed temporarily by municipal authorities for selling expired food and improper storage and preparation of food, the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning said on its website.

The closure of the outlets took place on November 19 and 20 in Al Rayyan and Umm Salal municipalities.

A branch of Chow King Restaurant in Al Mamoura, Street No. 424, has been closed for 10 days for selling expired food that was unfit for human consumption.

The director of Al Wakra municipality closed down Save Mart retail store for seven days for selling expired food.

Sun Golden Restaurant in Umm Salal Mohammed was closed for 15 days. The decision was based on the official violation seizure record and the report of the head of the Health Control Section, which confirmed violation of Law No. 8/1990 on regulating and controlling human food.

A complaint had been made by a customer, which led to an investigation. "We have decided to close down Sun Golden Restaurant for 15 days," said the director of Umm Salal municipality.

The ministry has emphasized that all health control sections in different municipalities will continue monitoring food outlets by conducting surprise and regular inspections. [Source: The Peninsula]

I hate restaurant cheating their costumers by serving unhygienic and expired foods! It's like you paid for your illness. Owner and manager should be jailed for criminal offense.
