Two inspectors of General Authority of Customs have been honoured for seizing over 12kg of Marijuana at Hamad International Airport.

The Peninsula reports that Ahmed bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the Authority, said, authority employees firmly stand against drug smugglers and are known for their seriousness, efficiency and ability to protect society from harming substances.

He also said this was reflected in successful raids and that the Authority is keen to constantly train employees in their areas of specialization to build capacities.

The Marijuana was caught in two operations. Suspicions over an Asian passenger’s bag led to its transfer to the inspection area and officials recovered 6.5kg of Marijuana.

Suspicions about another passenger coming to Doha led to the seizure of 6kg of the drug found in an oval-shaped ball covered with a black plastic bag.

The smugglers have been transferred to the departments concerned for investigation.
