Traffic chaos on C-Ring Road
There was chaos and confusion after a key stretch of C Ring road — between Ras Abu Aboud and Toyota traffic intersections — was suddenly closed to traffic by Ashghal last evening.
From Ras Abu Aboud Intersection, vehicles heading to Toyota Intersection were diverted towards Ummghuwailina to the right and Al Wakra to the left.
As a result, internal roads in Umm Ghuwailina and near Sana traffic lights were inundated with traffic. The same was the case in areas like Najma, with vehicles going to the Corniche on the C Ring Road from the opposite direction.
Public Works Authority (Ashghal) made no prior announcement of the closure of the road which is always busy during peak hours.
It was a Friday and a lot of people, including women and children, heading to the Corniche were caught in the melee and had to spend frustrating time in their vehicles, waiting for traffic to clear on the chaotic internal streets.
