From today, be prepared for heavy rush on Qatar’s roads

By now, many of Qatar’s residents may have gotten used to travelling through its major roads sans huge blocks or issues. But come Sunday and things are going to go back to where it was a few weeks ago.

With schools resuming after an extra-long summer holidays and government offices coming back to life after the Eid Al Adha week, things are going to get busy on Qatar’s roads. While many of Qatar’s 276,000 students travel by school buses, some of them are taken to school and back via private cars. It all adds to road congestion.

Keep these tips in mind to beat the traffic and stay safe on Qatar's roads.

* Under changed circumstances, it is always advisable to start from home a little bit earlier than usual.

* Always expect heavy traffic at major roundabouts/signals. Remember, it is better to be early than sorry.

* Always plan your trip in advance and look out for short cuts and alternate routes to reach your destination.

* While considering your travel route, factor in delays caused by the many road constructions around the country.

* Speeding is never a good thing, but when done under stress, it becomes even more deadly. Keep away from those moments of recklessness on the accelerator.

* Ensure that everyone in the car is wearing seatbelt. Also keep your car in shape. Check it up regularly and also ensure there is optimum tyre pressure at all times.

* Avoid using mobile phones while driving. Remember, no WhatsApp message or YouTube video or Twitter feed or Facebook update is worth your life.

Drive safely, Qatar.

"Basic?" They have no sense and when the two words are joined together it reads "nonsense."

Reading such posts daily, I wonder whether people in Qatar lack basic common sense

But yesterday in your post you stated, "will leave home 20 minutes early." I am wondering!

We will be careful and leave home 10 minutes early .. A blackbird flies from the nest early to get food for its young
