As relevant authorities in Qatar continue to intensify monitoring, detection and management procedures to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), three additional cases of the virus have been reported in the country today.

According to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), the three new cases are that of expatriates in Qatar.

They have been admitted to Hamad Medical Corporation's Communicable Disease Center.

"Those who shared accommodation with the patients, or had contact with them, have been quarantined and are being tested to ensure they are free from infection," the Ministry said in a press release.

With these new cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 15.

In a press conference held today, representatives from health authorities in Qatar assured that the risk of the virus spreading among the population remains low.

This is because the patients remain under strict quarantine and infection control procedures.

They have not had any interaction with the wider community, the Ministry confirmed.

MoPH has assured the public that it continues to implement the highest level of monitoring, detection and management procedures to protect the people of Qatar from being affected by the virus.
