After showing a negative trend in April following several months of increases, fuel prices are set to go up steeply in May.

According to the new prices put up by Qatar petroleum on its official website, the cost of super petrol and diesel have touched QR2 per litre each. In April, super petrol used to cost QR1.90 per litre and diesel used to be sold for QR1.85 per litre.

While the price of premium petrol has also gone up, it is not as steep as the other two. A litre of premium petrol will cost QR1.90, up from QR1.80 in April.

This is the highest price the country has ever witnessed for each types of fuels.

zuma: You have asked the right question to a wrong person who just goes about posting the most ridiculous things at QL, and has been doing so for several years now.

The increase in fuel prices is not a result of the gulf crises. Fuel prices go up down due to international market prices of crude oil. My country has also see an increase in fuel prices beginning this month although it is not in the gulf.

the way i see it; the one and only issue is that salaries have not kept pace with the higher cost of living and its something the government might look into along with all the other great work its doing; the rising fuel prices hurt only because employers are not generous enough and the senior levels line their own pockets, leaving the scraps for their subordinates; the fact remains that Qatar still sells the world's 11th cheapest fuel and the second cheapest in the gcc.

what is the need to reduce 5 dirhams one month and the next month they increase 10 or 15 dirhams ? WHom are the trying to fool ? Others brains ? or themselves.

In other countries there would be strikes, here though that is illegal too. Nobody to question either. Rich becomes richer poor becomes poorer.

Anyhow world is becoming a place where nobody can live peacefully either physically, financially or mentally. So ultimately its all the same.
