Speed limit on expressway to be reduced to 60km/h
With the increasing number of fatalities on Qatar's roads, the traffic department is looking to implement a lower speed limit in certain traffic hotspots in and around the country.
This is to reduce the number of high-speed collisions on the road, and ease the traffic flow.
The speed limit will be dropped to 60km/h in areas of high congestion like the Doha Expressway (February 22nd Street) with the aim of stopping rash driving.
Motorists found violating the speed limit will be levied standard traffic fines and points as per the traffic laws.
One of the leading causes of death in Qatar is road traffic collisions, mainly due of reckless driving by impatient drivers.
Also, in order to ease the burden on the public, the department is considering completely removing the speed limit on some highways on the outskirts of Doha such as parts of Shamal road and Salwa road.
Watch the video to find out when this change will be implemented.
Over-speeding causes lesser accidents than operating iphones while driving
DID I JUST GET RICK ROLLED !?!?! This just made my day !
Real time enforcement is nonexistent
The road design is false.
So, this is false?
More dead people to come.
"... removing the speed limit on some highways on the outskirts of Doha such as parts of Shamal road and Salwa road." We've all been waiting for this. This going to be THE race course now!
Good News for my 2016 Camel Cart :)
Would be nice to take on Mohdata in his Camry, but I don't want to embarrass him
Great news.. I can now open up my Pink Kia on the Shamal road and test out the new air ducts
