Six-hour working days for employees in private sector during Ramadan
Ramadan is almost upon us and people are eagerly looking forward to it. While the government had already announced that the official working hours for government employees would be five hours, nothing yet had been made clear about those in the private sector.
But now, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) has said that those who in private sector industries will work for six hours a day during Ramadan. It has also called on private sector companies to abide by the reduced working hours, as part of the Labour Law, reported Gulf Times.
MADLSA has stressed that it will vigilantly monitor private companies and institutions to ensure their compliance to the provision of law and commitment to the working time during Ramadan, reported The Peninsula.
While inspectors from the Ministry will organise surprise field visits, those who violate the rile will be slapped with legal action.
The ministry said that workers had the provision of anonymously reporting violations to the rule through its different communication channels and hotlines. It promised complete confidentiality to informers and promised them quick action, according to Qatar Tribune.
