Some areas in the country could likely witness rains accompanied with thunder today, according to the weather bureau.

Although day temperature has begun coming down, the day today is likely to be relatively hot, the bureau said in a forecast.

Maximum temperature is forecast at 36 degrees C and the minimum at 29.

A highlight these days is that the difference between day and night mercury levels has started narrowing down. It is just six degrees considering that the maximum temperature will be 36 degrees today and the minimum 29.

During the peak summer months this difference can go up to 19 to 20 degrees at times.

Inshore, it could be windy at times with wind direction being northeasterly. The wind can gather speed up to 25 knots at times.

Visibility will be four to eight kilometres initially but could gradually worsen to 2km in areas that witness rain.

According to the Met office, the weather offshore will be cloudy with chances of scattered rains accompanied by thunder.

In Doha, the day temperature will be 35 degrees while at night the mercury level is likely at 29.
