QRCS launches QR50 million fundraising for Beirut relief

Qatar has always been one of the first to offer assistance to friendly nations in times of emergency.
This is most evident amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as Qatar continues to send urgent medical aid to nations in need of support to tackle the virus.
In light of the recent tragedy in Lebanon, Qatar, once again, spared no time in reaching out to the brotherly nation and its people.
Earlier on Wednesday, Qatar sent medical equipment including essential supplies to treat those injured in the Beirut Explosion coupled with two fully-equipped field hospitals.
In addition to medical aid, the country also sent a search and rescue team to help support rescue efforts in the Lebanese capital.
Building on these efforts, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), yesterday announced that it has launched a QR50 million fundraising campaign for Beirut relief.
A group from QRCS’ representation mission in Lebanon together with colleagues from the Lebanese Red Cross carried out a field visit to collect information and assess the needs of those affected.
The fundraising campaign ‘Heart for Lebanon’ was launched after QRCS got approval from the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA).
The campaign seeks to support the Lebanese people as they deal with the large-scale devastation that has caused dozens of casualties, overcrowded hospitals, destruction of the wheat stock, and disruption of life in entire districts.
Under the campaign, QRCS aims to raise QR50 million to provide relief, medical and food aid, emergency shelter, among other forms of humanitarian aid to support at least 300,000 affected people.
