QF report recommends online recruitment

Qatar should explore online, government-facilitated recruiting options as an alternative to recruitment agencies in the countries that send labourers to the country, recommends the report “Migrant Labour Recruitment to Qatar” released by Qatar Foundation recently. This would save the workers from huge sums paid to the recruitment agencies.
The report also suggests Qatar could enter into renewed bilateral arrangements with labour sending countries or maintain representative monitors there. The report points out that labour sending country governments are always keen to develop bilateral relations.
The report observes that these measures could help the workers get jobs in Qatar and other countries in the region from various exploitations at their countries. It will also ensure proper regulation and policing of recruitment agencies and individual recruiters with ethical recruitment standards.
According to the report, the employers who do not recruit directly overseas job seekers and employers in Qatar would locate each other through a government-run website that would serve as a recruiting clearinghouse.
This would eliminate or at least reduce the need for intermediaries. It would also lower up-front costs to employers, and would have the potential to individualise the recruitment process.
