Qatar’s first planetarium is just a few months away from officially opening
Over the years, the education and entertainment scenes in Qatar have shown a steady growth. However, not much had entertainment options were available for the science fans in the country.
Come December and that issue will be addressed to a large extent as a state-of-the-art planetarium, one of the most advanced in the region, is set to open its doors at the Katara Cultural Village, reported The Peninsula.
The Al Thuraya planetarium, spread over an area of 2,240SqM, is expected to fast become one of the Katara’s most eye-catching attraction. It is set to offer visitors a rare experience that will blend education and entertainment, especially to students, families and astronomy enthusiasts.

Katara Cultural Village General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti earlier tweeted that the planetarium will officially open its doors in December.
The planetarium will have a seating capacity of 200 people, with four seats reserved for people with disabilities and another four for the elderly.
It is set to feature a huge 22M screen equipped with state-of-the-art digital projectors. A vast terrace overlooking the sea will serve as a platform for events and activities.
