Qatari Riyal can be exchanged at Doha Bank branches in India
There has been a lot of confusion in recent times about banks in different parts of the world refusing to deal in Qatari Riyals.
While India’s Reserve Bank of India made a statement saying there were no curbs in place for collecting Qatari Riyals, a malicious campaign in the UK to discredit Riyals had crashed and burned spectacularly.
But now, Doha Bank has introduced a new facility in its Indian branches — in Mumbai and Kochi — to eliminate any unlikely problem people may face while attempting to change the Qatari currency.
Other banks in the country can also liaise with them for the exchange of Qatari money, thus paving the way for solving of issues once and for all.
Doha Bank has been authorised to exchange Qatari riyal notes against Indian rupees for its customers as well as other banks, Doha Bank CEO Dr R Seetharaman said.
“Doha Bank would like to assure its existing customers that they can exchange Qatari riyal currency notes against Indian rupees at its branches in India. Doha Bank has also communicated to all the banks in India that they can get in touch with the branch personnel to discuss the operational aspects of the exchange,” Gulf Times quoted him as saying.
“Qatari banks have supported and continues to support all its customers, exchange houses, with foreign exchange remittance as well as currency notes supply as per demand,” he added.
A welcome move, thanks.
