WATCH: Qatari company hatches plans to manufacture electric cars inside the country
Qatar is a country that is abundantly blessed with oil and other fuel resources. Hence, petrol cars have been popular for a very long time.
However, with the passage of time, people seem to have become more environmentally aware. And if things progress as planned, a Qatari company may soon start the manufacture of electric cars in the country.
The Qatar-based company is set to collaborate with a Japanese partner to manufacture electric cars of different sizes and capacities, said a report in Gulf Times.
“We’ll make a formal announcement of our project on September 19 in Doha,” Qatar Quality Trading managing director Musa Ramadan told Gulf Times.
It is understood that Takayuki Hirayama, Chairman of Japanese company ARM, will make a presentation at the time.
Once the plan is announced, they will move forward with securing necessary clearances from various ministries and departments.
“If everything goes well, we may be able to start its commercial production in about a year from now, from a plant to be set up somewhere on the outskirts of New Industrial Area,” Ramadan was quoted as saying by Gulf Times.
While there are already some electric vehicles plying their trade in Qatar, it will be the first time such vehicles are manufactured within the country.
