Qatar continues to fight the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) with all its might. In recent weeks, the country has taken a series of measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its citizens and residents.

Qatar is setting up three field hospitals in the Industrial Area to ensure adequate and superior medical care for workers. Alongside with medical care, the hospitals will be carrying out tests for coronavirus.

The work of the first hospital is in progress, and it is expected to be ready very soon. The first hospital will be equipped with 190 beds, including 40 beds for emergency cases. The emergency section is expected to cater between 1,000 to 2,000 people per day.

“We are getting co-operation from the private sector and voluntary organizations. Facilities have been offered by generous persons and some of them have also allowed us to make use of the buildings in the area”, says Khalid Abdulnoor from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).

Currently, an outpatient clinic is already functioning in the Industrial Area. COVID-19 testing and examinations are also being carried out over there. All the medications are provided for free of charge by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the official mentioned.

Earlier, MoPH has set up ambulance services to transport people in need.

Meanwhile, health authorities in Qatar continue to implement the highest level of monitoring, detection, and management procedures to deal with the virus, the public has been advised to follow certain measures to safeguard their health.

For any queries, or concerns related to COVID-19 in Qatar, the public can contact a 24/7 hotline set up by the Ministry. The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.

Here's everything you need to know about the virus, including ways to protect yourself.
