Qatar opens up more mosques to keep pace with population

Qatar has opened up three new mosques to worshippers as part of its plan to double the number of mosques to keep pace with the increasing population.

The three new mosques opened by The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs can accommodate more than 1,000 worshippers. The mosques are located in Al Khor, Abu Sadri and Umm Al Khaba.

The mosque in Al Khor can accommodate 498 worshippers of whom 215 in the main hall, 250 in the mezzanine and 33 in the women's hall.

The mosque in Abu Sadri for Furud prayers can accommodate 190 worshippers, including 150 in the main hall and 40 in women's hall.

The mosque in Umm Al Akhaba can accommodate 300 worshippers in the main hall and 66 in the women's hall. It is also equipped with a library of Islamic books. [Qatar News Agency]

I believe now Women's Hospital is reserved for Qataris only.

Pregnant expat women are now asked to go elsewhere..
