Qatar has highest average wealth per adult in the MENA region
Qatar is considered to be one of the richest countries in the world in terms of per capita income. A new report has confirmed that when it comes to richest nations in the Middle East and North Africa, there is no one to top Qatar.
The latest global wealth report, released by Credit Suisse Research Institute, puts the country right on top, reported Qatar Tribune.
The report said that the average wealth per adult (WPA) in Qatar in mid-2016 was $161,700 while that of the UAE, which came second, was $151,100.
Kuwait were third in the region with WPA of $119,000 while Oman ($52,664), Bahrain ($50,600), Saudi Arabia ($40,600), Lebanon ($30,730), Jordan ($15,702), Iraq ($12,663), Egypt ($6,300) and Iran ($3,955) followed.
Last year, the global wealth rose by $3.5tn, to $256tn, an increase of 1.4%. However, global wealth per adult remained unchanged for the first time since 2008 ($52,800).
Saudi Arabia topped countries with total wealth in the region, at $725bn. UAE had $597bn while Kuwait and Qatar have $288bn and $210bn respectively.
