Qatar Airways is all set to move and commence flight operations from Hamad International Airport at 9am today.

This will enable Qatar Airways’ passengers to experience the facilities at the world’s newest international gateway.

The move will mean that as of 9am, all commercial passenger airlines operating into Qatar will be arriving and departing from Hamad International Airport.

“The move of our entire operations to HIA is a momentous occasion for Qatar Airways, and one that we have been preparing for extensively for a long time,” said Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer, Akbar Al Baker.

“Our move to HIA heralds a new beginning for Qatar Airways, as we will now be based in a world-class hub that has been entirely designed to meet the needs and expectations of even the most discerning passengers.

“With the capacity to handle 8,700 customers per hour, HIA will provide a seamless, hassle-free experience to our passengers, from check-in to passport control and boarding.

Qatar Airways passengers will be thrilled to enjoy the comfort and functional design of the new airport, along with the exceptional shopping and dining choices it offers.”

The HIA Passenger Terminal Complex will house a total of 138 check-in counters across five islands, including 108 counters for Qatar Airways Economy passengers and all other airlines, 16 counters for Qatar Airways Business Class travellers and 14 seated check-in counters for Qatar Airways First Class passengers.

DHAWOOD1982, The points you make out are exactly what I do observed at HIA, one more thing I observed in side the departure area the smell of urine or toilet smell and it may be due to the improper drainage system of water flushing system is improper. All other things are fantastic & world class.

The New Airport is awesome! great with capacity to handle 80 Million Passengers per year, but when visit HIA 2 days back, i found some thing to be rectified,

1. inside the HIA, displays for ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE area LCD screen, the Details & Letters appearing are Very very small, You have to go very close to the display to see the details - please make it bigger and comfort, at least it should be clear visible 15 - 20 Meters away from the LCD Screen

2. In the PARKING area, PARKING lot numbers are painted on the road, instead of the wall. if some one park the car, it hides the number which has gone under the car, it is difficult to search and find the cars from the parking area, this numbers must be paste / Write on top of the side walls or to be written in the big rounded beams.

Hope Authority will do the necessary steps for the same. Regarding the rest the Airport Authority of QATAR (HIA) has done a great job. Thanks
